ASP Returns for 2017-2018 School Year
The Friends of Cheltenham Community Tennis was very busy focusing on our elementary aged students for 2016-2017. We realized the need to get them hooked while they are young!!
In order to promote and foster this love of tennis, we had partnered with the USTA’s Grant program. They supported our elementary school Physical Education program by granting all the expenses needed for 10 and Under equipment (150 racquets, nets, balls, etc) and PE staff development for each of our 5 Cheltenham district elementary schools.
Furthermore, with the support and approval of our School Superintendent, Dr Marseille, and Elkins Park Principal, Dr Doria, we introduced an after school program in 2016-17 school year for the Elkins Park students. The arrival of the new equipment made this program a success, along with the direction of our EP staff teacher, Michele Staroba. Michele Staroba has been a competitive, nationally ranked player, still competing and loving tennis. We also had the help of 5 additional volunteers, 4 of which were from the High School tennis teams.
Parent testimonials were overwhelming, and student feedback was very positive. We are getting requests for 2018-19 registration forms already. These will be coming out shortly!!! We promise.
We will have the addition of Sarah House, an EP faculty teacher, as well as an NJTL instructor (National Junior Tennis and Learning) for 2017-18. Please direct any questions to Lori Siegal at
