New Tournament Format Announced

CHELTENHAM, PA - The Friends of Cheltenham Community Tennis organization announces the expansion of their USTA tournaments by adding a consolation draw to the tournament starting in 2012.

According to Lori Liss Siegal, Co-President and Tournament Director, "We wanted to expand the format to ensure every player was able to play at least two matches.  These tournaments are as much about developing players in the community as they are about the competition."

By changing the format to a First Match Loser Consolation (FMLC) format, if the player loses their first match, they will be moved into the consolation draw, where they will play the other players who lost their first matches.

"We are excited about expanding our tournament format", said Siegal, "and seeing our local Junior players develop their confidence and skills.  There are players who have participated in several of our tournaments and it is a pleasure to watch their skills improve each time."
